The Home Office has launched a new campaign to ensure businesses are ready for the introduction of the UK’s new immigration system as free movement ends for EU Workers coming to the UK.
Employers hiring from outside of the UK will need to be mindful of the new points-based immigration system. This could change the way you hire and retain staff, as well as require different HR procedures.
The most important point to note is that to hire from outside of the UK you will need to be a licensed sponsor which you can apply for online now.
Visa requirements will change for some workers so HR departments should note these rule changes and ensure workers are kept up to date should they need to update their own details.
With some new policies designed to enable easier access for skilled workers, businesses can profit from a larger talent pool of available workers. There will also be measures in place to increase the skill of workers in the UK.
The Recruitment Lab advises employers and employees alike to keep an eye on the government website as new regulations are introduced and to ask your HR representative if you have any questions.
